CategoriesAs the music specialist at Farpoint I would like to bring your attention to Reason 6 a really good music making program for the Mac. Also Reason can be rewired into Logic 9 Apples own recording software.
Reason 6 features a very authentic looking mixer and for those people who were used to old analogue mixing consoles they should feel at home with this interface. The Reason of the past only supported its own sounds made in the rack but now has full audio recording built in with loads of effects and endless routing possibilities.
Reason 6 is fully compatible with 10.7 lion the new operating system for mac so there is no excuse not to install it.
Another important feature which very often gets overlooked with this software is the ability to sample directly into any of the built in modules even the drum sequencer Redrum, much fun can be had with this.
You can also change the tempo of a song dramatically and the audio will adjust accordingly.
The ease with which the program can manipulate sounds and samples is quite simply breathtaking and if you haven’t looked for a while at reason you may be pleasantly surprised.
For people who maybe using an older version of Reason the latest version has added three new effects Pulverisor , Alligator and Tape echo all have some great features and I can only say that the best way to tell is to experiment.
For people who are vocally challenged (politically correct for can’t sing) you may appreciate Neptune which is great for pitch correction of vocals or voice synthesis so if you sing the odd wrong note this module will help you out.
The mixer also has a master compressor built in great for adding some pinch to your mix.
I think that experimentation is something that this program encourages you to do which for creating new music is a must!
If you wish to find out more information about this go to www.propellerheads.se where you will find lots of demos and video clips to support this article.
