iPhone/iPod Touch Mail Crashing?

Dave Tommey

In the current release of the iPhone OS if you happen to get a mail bounce back i.e. you try and send an email to an address that doesn’t exist, It could cause Mail to quit out.

To rectify the issue, log onto your webmail interface (Hotmail, Yahoo etc) and delete the offending message. It is usually from your Mail Delivery Subsystem.

Once you have done this, on the phone itself,  go into Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Select the offending Address, scroll to the bottom of the page and press Delete Account.

You can then re-setup your account and mail should work.
