Reason for Visit: Laptop Repair
I am very impressed with Ben. As soon as he realised that my daughter needed her computer back for coursework (as her computer contains programmes that we don’t have on ours) , he daily kept me informed, by email, as to how the repair was progressing.
When apple failed to send the correct part, which then delayed the repair by another 24 hours, he spoke to me personally to explain the situation. He assured me that the correct part would be in the next day, he had spoken to apple to confirm this and that as soon as the part was in he would repair the computer so that we could collect it. In the shop, he showed incredible patience when I wanted to be really sure it worked.

I know that there can be long waiting times in the shop, but when you are served, or the advisors/assiatants give you plenty of time, plenty of advice, patience as they go over the same thing again. I am prepared to wait my time, because of the quality of service I get when it is my time.

We’ve been with Farpoint since we started Osborne Pike in 2002.
Wandering around Bath in search of a bank, accountant, solicitor, and
all the usual start-up necessities, we were surprised to see the iconic
Apple sign hanging outside a small shop on a side street. We discovered
to our surprise that this was a small but perfectly formed Apple
dealership in Bath, and we ordered the latest Macs immediately. As a
bonus Farpoint were also able to rent us a top quality laser printer,
so we could get started straight away.
Being a start-up we
didn’t have an IT manager, and we probably never will. That’s because
Mark Hooper is always extremely helpful when it comes to the technical
and even the administrative support that comes with setting up a
computer network. As we’ve grown Mark has supplied all our Mac
workstations and screens, our servers, and he’s also helped us move the
whole lot twice. On top of that we get the latest updates of ‘kit’, to
use what I believe is the technical term, every 18 months, so we’re
always working with state of the art equipment.
Farpoint has
now grown and developed as part of the Apple success story, and their
new showroom is as cool and trendy as you’d expect from a company that
now deals with i-pod, i-tunes and i-everything consumers as well as
businesses. But I’m pleased to say that we still get very responsive
and competitively-priced service from Mark and his team, and I would
thoroughly recommend Farpoint to any business, either starting up or
looking to upgrade its network.

scouting library for game preparation, archives of our season’s games

training ground on an xServe Solution, which provides rapid data
transfer even with large video files.The server is impressive in its
ability to smoothly run the same video and music files simultaneously
across a number of purpose built iMac stations within our players’
lounge. Furthermore, we are secure in the knowledge that our sensitive
information is fully backed up and can be managed remotely from the
Farpoint office.

Rycote is a small family run manufacturing company based in Stroud,
Gloucestershire. We make windshields and shock mounts for microphones
used in the broadcast and film industry all over the world, with over
85% of our annual turnover going for export.
We made the
complete switch from a PC network to Mac’s with Farpoint in April 2008.
Up until that point, all the company directors were true, happy Mac
converts, but the greater majority of IT users at the company were
definitely not. However with the close support of Mark & the
Farpoint team the transition was smooth and we haven’t looked back
since. Farpoint also provided invaluable training for all our people,
which went along way to removing people fears of working with something
new.
Our accounting package is Sage, so our last remaining tie
to Windows OS is the Terminal Server. Other than Sage, all our other
software needs are handled purely on the Mac’s. This includes all our
email, which was switched from Exchange Server to Kerio Mail. Following
the system being commissioned, we have found the after support provided
by Mark excellent.
